Lift for an Existing House in Bengaluru: Steel Shaft Home Lifts Explained
Many families in Bengaluru want a lift for elderly parents but live in a house that was built without a lift shaft. The good news: you do not need to break walls or build a concrete shaft. A steel shaft home lift stands on its own and can be added inside or outside an existing house.
What is a steel shaft lift?
UNOSAFE's VTX Steel Shaft (US-9000) is a self-supporting metal structure that holds the lift. It is fixed to the building but does not depend on it for strength. The panels can be glass or powder-coated metal sheet, so the lift becomes an architectural feature instead of a box.
Where it works best
- Independent houses and villas built without a lift shaft
- Duplex and triplex homes where space is limited
- Outdoor installation along an outer wall or courtyard
- Small commercial buildings with a few floors
Key benefits
- Easy installation: far less civil work than a concrete shaft.
- Strong and weather resistant: built to handle harsh conditions, including outdoor use.
- Design freedom: powder coating in a range of colours, with metal sheet or glass cladding. Standard finishes include Silver Grey, Jet Black and Pebble Grey.
- Blends with your home: designed to look like part of the building.
- Can be moved: the complete system can be dismantled, relocated and reinstalled at another site.
- Works with UNOSAFE MRL lifts: compatible with every UNOSAFE machine-room-less traction lift, including the EUROSAFE Z+ home lift range.
Pair it with EUROSAFE Z+
The EUROSAFE Z+ home lift needs only a 300 mm pit and 2800 mm headroom, and runs on single-phase or three-phase power. Combined with a steel shaft, it is one of the simplest ways to add a lift to an existing home. EUROSAFE Z+ starts from Rs 10.87 lakh (VTX AURA) and Rs 11.94 lakh (VTX SIGNATURE).
Do you still need a licence?
Yes. In Karnataka every lift, including home lifts, needs a licence under the Karnataka Lifts, Escalators and Passenger Conveyors Act. UNOSAFE handles the licence process for every lift it installs.
